Raining Life

I stare out my window as the water pours
The rough winds causing the slamming of doors

Rain falls down in bucket-loads and sheets
The slapping sound heard as road and water meets

The sky is a clear, dull vision of grey
Like Sleepy Hollow is greeting us for the day

The ponds on the pavement grow as the rain water falls
My ears are attuned to nature as whispering wind calls

But too soon it is over, the rain has now ceased
And the wind is no longer a giant, howling beast

So now, as the sun ventures out to play,
I can't help but miss the cool rain today.
